Golf Terms You Need To Know As An Amateur

So, you're keen on golf? Before getting the perfect swing and putting techniques, you might consider improving your skills with terminologies first. Here are useful golf terms you need to know before that awesome bogey. Wait! What? See? Here are some terms you need to familiarize with:

Ace


- hole in one


Par

- the number of strokes a player is expected to take to get the ball in the hole or to complete a course, created based on length and difficulty



Bogey

- one stroke over par on a hole (meaning, completing a par-5 hole in 6 strokes)


Birdie


- one stroke under par on a hole (meaning, completing a par-4 hole in just 3 strokes)



Putter


- the club typically used to get the ball into the hole when on the green


Fairway


- the land between the tee and the putting green
